The MG Mystics have claimed ANZ Premiership grand final glory in the perfect send off for retiring captain Sulu Fitzpatrick, dominating Tāmaki Makaurau rivals the Robinhood Stars 74 to 56 at a sold-out GLOBOX Arena in Hamilton.

Speaking at the final whistle, head coach Tia Winikerei said it was her team’s most complete performance of the season and the timing could not be better.

The Mystics led at the close of each quarter, despite a strong fight back from the Stars in the second chapter.

Goal-shooter Grace Nweke was named Most Valuable Player with a near perfect performance, shooting 70 out of 73 attempts with an outstanding percentage of 96%.

It is the Mystics’ second ANZ Premiership title adding to their 2021 win which featured seven of the current squad – Grace Nweke, Peta Toeava, Tayla Earle, Sulu Fitzpatrick, Filda Vui, Phoenix Karaka and Claire O’Brien.
