MYSTICS BRAVE NEW HEIGHTS

The LG Northern Mystics braved new heights when a team camp activity took them up Auckland’s tallest building.
After a gruelling boxing session with Shane Cameron on February 7, the netball team took in city views from 192m off the ground by taking part in the SkyWalk.

The activity is touted as a team-building exercise which sees adrenalin junkies walk the perimeter of the tower on a 1.2m wide walkway with nothing but air on either side. They are, however, attached to the building by a harness.

“They had no idea that they were going to have to do it,” said Tash Osborne, the team’s event and operations manager.

“Last year they had to jump off the Harbour Bridge, so they knew it would be something out of their comfort zone.”

The entire team and their managers took up the challenge, although some were more eager than others.

“Grace Rasmussen is quite afraid of heights, so that put her firmly in the not-happy camp. But she did it, and they all enjoyed it,” said Osborne.

The Mystic’s will head to Tauranga on March 2 where they will take part in a two-day round-robin of pre-season games with all 10 teams competing in the ANZ Netball Championships.
