Northern Mystics complete 2019 ANZ Premiership Team
The Northern Mystics are pleased to confirm their 2019 ANZ Premiership playing roster for next year with some exciting new talent amongst the team.
Head Coach, Helene Wilson said she was delighted that Bailey Mes, Elisapeta Toeava, Michaela Sokolich Beatson, Phoenix Karaka and Jamie Hume have all recommitted to the Northern Mystics for 2019 which provides the opportunity to build on the connections from last year. Wilson is also excited to have Grace Kukutai, confirmed to the team after an exceptional 2018 as a dedicated training partner.
There are several new faces in the Northern Mystics for 2019 including Emma Iversen who in 2018 played in the BEKO competition for the Northern Comets. Wilson said, “Emma displayed her attacking flair and speed in the ANZ Premiership in 2017 and as a mature player who can read play and swing the ball at speed, she will add another exciting dynamic to our team”.
We are pleased to be adding new young talent in Tayla Earle, “Tayla is an exciting player who has come through the Netball Northern Zone’s Performance Programme and will complement the defensive end of the court!”
Also joining the team is experienced defender Erena Mikaere, returning to New Zealand after playing 4 seasons in Australia. Wilson adds “We are excited to add experience and positional versatility to our defence end by welcoming Erena Mikaere to the Northern Mystics for 2019. Joining us on the back of winning two Suncorp Super Netball Premierships with the Sunshine Coast Lightning, Erena’s height and athleticism will be a fantastic addition to our team”.
Our team is completed with the experience of Australian import Kristina Brice. “The experience of our shooting end will be bolstered with our final player and import from Australia, Kristina Brice. Kristina is known as a prolific shooter who enjoys contributing on court to her team’s success and is joining the Northern Mystics after two successful seasons in the Suncorp Super Netball League, playing with the Giants. She will bring another exciting dimension to our attacking end of the court”.
On the two new recruits relocating from Australia, Wilson says “I’m excited to work with athletes who are experienced in performing under pressure in big games’.
The Northern Mystics opening game is against the Pulse in Hamilton on Sunday 24 February 2019 (Super Sunday).
