MYSTICS ANNOUNCE 2026 MEN’S TEAM

Get ready for a thrilling return to the court! The Mystics are proud to announce the 2026 Mystics Men’s Team: an exciting and dynamic squad ready to take on the Stars, and the Pulse Men, across a three-match series.

The 12-strong squad will look to continue the impressive momentum built last season, following the Mystics Men’s clean sweep against the Stars Men. Seasoned campaigners Benny Matthews, Eriata Vercoe nd Mikaira Raerino return to the Mystics, bringing their unique flair and leadership on court.

The team also sees emerging homegrown talent in Darius Henare-Vaihu (16) and Jake Bodley (18), who impressed at trials. Both young defensive players have come through the Waitākere Netball Centre pathway, a testament to a new generation of players coming through.

The Men’s 2026 series sees the Mystics compete against the Stars Men in round one and round three of the ANZ Premiership as curtain raisers. For the first time, the team will also travel to Te Whanganui-a-Tara, taking on the Pulse Men at home in round five. The series will see elite athletes and epic clashes, as it continues elevating the men’s side of the sport.

Head Coach Peter McInnes will lead the squad once again, following an outstanding first season in the role. McInnes is supported by Assistant Coach Paula Smith, who, together, have extensive international and domestic experience across men’s and women’s netball.

Ahead of the season, McInnes said: “This season we’ve got a real blend of youth and experience across the team, which is important for the growth of the game. The battle of the bridge is always a great learning opportunity against the Stars Men, and this season, the added layer of the Pulse Men is an exciting one.”
