Unitec in partnership with the LG Mystics

Don’t be surprised to see some of our top netballers around Unitec thanks to a new partnership with the LG Mystics for the upcoming Trans Tasman ANZ Netball Championships.

The new partnership means Unitec is now the official tertiary provider for the franchise enabling many of the Mystic players to access the various programmes offered at Unitec.

When the Mystics step out onto court in the upcoming Trans Tasman ANZ Netball Championships, they will be wearing Unitec’s logo on their bibs.

There will also be other opportunities for the community to see their favourite players in action with possible training sessions at the Unitec Sports Centre that could be open to the public.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Unitec to support one of the best netball teams in the country,” says Chief Executive Rick Ede.

“There are many similarities between Unitec and the Mystics. We serve the same communities in west Auckland and the North Shore and have the same goals.

“Unitec provides top graduates who become great achievers in their chosen field while the Mystics provide top netball players and identify future Silver Ferns.”

Dr Ede says Unitec is well recognised for its strong community support and the partnership with the Mystics will provide further opportunities for the community to interact with players.

LG Mystics CEO Mark Cameron added “Having a partnership with Unitec is a great fit for our team. Unitec represents education excellence in our community and this excellence is something our team strives for”

“We look forward to working with Unitec staff and students in the coming months and Unitec being part of our teams journey towards sporting excellence”
